Instructions
1. In a large pot, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until softened.
2. Add the diced ham and cook for a few minutes until browned.
3. Add the soaked beans, chicken broth, and water to the pot. Bring to a boil.
4. Reduce heat and simmer for about 1.5 hours, or until beans are tender.
5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
