Ingredients

  • 1 lb Dried beans soaked overnight
  • 1 lb Ham hock
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper to taste
  • 6 cups Water

Instructions 

  1. 1. Rinse and drain the soaked beans.
  2. 2. In a large pot, combine beans, ham hock, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and water.
  3. 3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 2 hours, or until beans are tender.
  4. 4. Remove ham hock, shred the meat, and return it to the pot. Discard the bone.
  5. 5. Adjust seasoning to taste and serve hot.
