Ingredients 

Potato Filling

  • 4 medium Potatoes boiled and mashed
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 2 tablespoon Coriander Leaves chopped
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt or to taste

Batter

  • 1 cup Gram Flour (Besan)
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoon Salt or to taste
  • as needed Water to make batter
  • for deep frying Oil

Instructions 

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
  2. Add turmeric powder and mashed potatoes. Mix well.
  3. Add salt and chopped coriander leaves. Mix and cook for 2-3 minutes. Let it cool.
  4. Make small balls from the potato mixture.
  5. In a bowl, mix gram flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, baking soda, and salt. Add water gradually to make a thick batter.
  6. Heat oil in a deep frying pan.
  7. Dip each potato ball in the batter and deep fry until golden brown.
  8. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with chutney.
