Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups Cabbage, chopped
  • ½ cup Moong dal (yellow lentils)
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste

For Tempering

  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 2 nos Dry red chilies
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves

Instructions 

  1. 1. Wash and soak the moong dal for 10 minutes.
  2. 2. In a pressure cooker, add the soaked dal, chopped cabbage, turmeric powder, and salt. Add enough water to cover the ingredients. Cook for 3-4 whistles.
  3. 3. In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add cumin seeds, dry red chilies, and curry leaves. Sauté for a minute.
  4. 4. Add the tempering to the cooked cabbage and dal mixture. Mix well and simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. 5. Serve hot with rice or chapati.
