Indian Chana Dal Fry Recipe

Main Ingredients
- 1 cup Chana Dal soaked for 1 hour
- 2 cups Water
- 1 tablespoon Oil
- 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
- 1 medium Onion finely chopped
- 2 medium Tomatoes finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
- 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
- 1 teaspoon Salt or to taste
- 2 tablespoon Cilantro chopped, for garnish
1. Rinse the chana dal and soak it in water for 1 hour.
2. Drain the water and add the chana dal to a pressure cooker with 2 cups of water. Cook for 3-4 whistles or until the dal is soft.
3. In a frying pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
4. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
5. Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
6. Add the cooked chana dal to the pan and mix well. Cook for another 5-10 minutes.
7. Add garam masala and mix well. Garnish with chopped cilantro.
8. Serve hot with rice or roti.
