Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup Black-eyed peas (Lobia) soaked overnight
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 cup Onion finely chopped
  • 1 cup Tomato finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger-Garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Cilantro chopped, for garnish

Instructions 

  1. 1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
  2. 2. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. 3. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
  4. 4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.
  5. 5. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
  6. 6. Add soaked black-eyed peas and mix well.
  7. 7. Add 2 cups of water, cover, and cook until the peas are tender.
  8. 8. Add garam masala and mix well. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  9. 9. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot.
