Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups Basmati rice rinsed and soaked for 30 minutes
  • 500 grams Chicken cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 large Onion sliced
  • 2 medium Tomatoes chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 2 pieces Bay leaves
  • 4 pieces Cloves
  • 4 pieces Green cardamom
  • 1 inch Cinnamon stick
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala
  • to taste Salt
  • 3 cups Water
  • 1 handful Cilantro chopped, for garnish

Instructions 

  1. 1. Heat oil in a large pot. Add cumin seeds, bay leaves, cloves, cardamom, and cinnamon stick. Sauté for a minute.
  2. 2. Add sliced onions and cook until golden brown.
  3. 3. Add ginger garlic paste and sauté for another minute.
  4. 4. Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until tomatoes are soft.
  5. 5. Add chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink.
  6. 6. Add soaked rice and mix well.
  7. 7. Pour in water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer until rice is cooked and water is absorbed.
  8. 8. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot.
