Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup Toor Dal (split pigeon peas)
  • 1 cup Mixed vegetables (potato, carrot, pumpkin, etc.) chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1 teaspoon Panch phoron (five spice mix)
  • 2 pcs Dry red chilies
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste
  • 2 cups Water

Instructions 

  1. 1. Wash the toor dal thoroughly and soak it in water for 15 minutes.
  2. 2. In a pressure cooker, add the soaked dal, chopped vegetables, turmeric powder, and 2 cups of water. Cook for 3-4 whistles.
  3. 3. In a pan, heat ghee and add panch phoron, dry red chilies, cumin seeds, and mustard seeds. Let them splutter.
  4. 4. Add the cooked dal and vegetable mixture to the pan. Add salt to taste and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  5. 5. Serve hot with rice or roti.
