Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup Chana Dal soaked for 30 minutes
  • 1 medium Lauki (Bottle Gourd) peeled and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 tablespoons Cilantro chopped, for garnish

Instructions 

  1. 1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker over medium heat.
  2. 2. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. 3. Add chopped lauki and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  4. 4. Add soaked chana dal, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
  5. 5. Add water and close the lid of the pressure cooker.
  6. 6. Cook for 3-4 whistles or until the dal and lauki are cooked through.
  7. 7. Let the pressure release naturally. Open the lid and mix well.
  8. 8. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot with rice or roti.
