Ingredients 

Kadhi Ingredients

  • 2 cups Yogurt
  • 3 tablespoon Gram flour (Besan)
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 4 cups Water

Tempering Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 2 Dried red chilies
  • 10 Curry leaves

Instructions 

  1. In a bowl, whisk together yogurt, gram flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Add water and mix well to form a smooth batter.
  2. Heat a saucepan over medium heat and pour the yogurt mixture into it. Stir continuously to avoid lumps.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. In a separate pan, heat ghee for tempering. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, asafoetida, dried red chilies, and curry leaves. Let them splutter.
  5. Pour the tempering over the simmering kadhi and mix well. Let it cook for another 5 minutes.
  6. Serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
