Ingredients 

Dough

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup Ghee melted
  • to taste Salt
  • as needed Water

Filling

  • 2 cups Onions finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Fennel seeds crushed
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • as needed Oil for frying

Instructions 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, melted ghee, and salt. Gradually add water and knead into a soft dough. Cover and set aside for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add fennel seeds, and let them splutter. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  4. Divide the dough into equal portions and roll them into small balls. Flatten each ball and place a spoonful of the onion filling in the center. Gather the edges and seal the filling inside.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan. Deep fry the kachoris on medium heat until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve hot with tamarind chutney or mint chutney.
