Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup Toor Dal (Split Pigeon Peas)
  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 Tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Coriander Leaves, chopped

Instructions 

  1. 1. Wash the toor dal thoroughly and soak it in water for 10 minutes.
  2. 2. In a pressure cooker, add the soaked dal, water, chopped tomatoes, chopped onion, minced garlic, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Cook for 3-4 whistles.
  3. 3. Once the pressure releases, mash the dal mixture slightly.
  4. 4. In a pan, heat oil. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
  5. 5. Add the cooked dal mixture to the pan. Add salt to taste. Let it simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  6. 6. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
