Portuguese Custard Tarts Recipe
Delicious and creamy Portuguese custard tarts, also known as Pastéis de Nata.

Custard
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 6 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoon cornstarch
Pastry
- 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, milk, and sugar. Heat until the sugar is dissolved.
In a bowl, whisk together egg yolks, vanilla extract, and cornstarch.
Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.
Roll out the puff pastry and cut into circles to fit your muffin tin. Press the pastry into the tin.
Fill the pastry with the cooled custard mixture.
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the tops are browned and the pastry is cooked through.
Let cool before serving.
